The Dirty Picture (Hindi: द डर्टी पिक्चर) is a 2011 Indian biographical film based on the life of Silk Smitha, an actress noted for her erotic roles. The filmmakers, however, have further clarified that the story is not officially and literally based on Smitha alone, but also on many of her other Southern contemporaries like Nylon Nalini and Disco Shanti, and even resembles the distressing personal lives of other women in popular culture, including Hollywood actress and sex symbol Marilyn Monroe.The film was directed by Milan Luthria and co-produced by Shobha Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor, after Ekta came up with the idea and asked screenwriter Rajat Aroraa to pen a story based on it.

The Dirty Picture released worldwide on December 2, 2011 (the birth anniversary of Smitha)in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu versions. Vidya Balan, Naseeruddin Shah, Tusshar Kapoor and Emraan Hashmi played lead roles in the film. Upon release, the film received both critical and commercial success, with Balan receiving maximum accolades for her performance and being called "the hero of the film". In addition, the film has also received widespread note for portraying women as powerful and as contributing something unique to a typically male-dominated society.

Priya Vasudev Mani Iyer, better known by her stage name Priyamani (Tamil: பிரியாமணி; born 4 June 1984) is an Indian film actress and model who has appeared in several Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada films. She is best known for earning a National Film Award for Best Actress for her role as "Muththazhagu" in the 2006 Tamil film Paruthi Veeran, and for her role as Malavika in the 2008 Malayalam film Thirakkatha, for which she won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Malayalam.

Priyamani was born in a Tamil-speaking Iyer family in Palakkad, Kerala to Vasudeva Mani Iyer and Latha Mani Iyer. She grew up in Bangalore. As a result of her dynamic exposure to different South Indian states, she speaks Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi. After completing her schooling, Priyamani modeled for print advertisements. As a result of her extended modeling, she began to earn opportunities to star in films. After being approached by several directors and being considered for roles, she finally starred in director Bharathiraja's Kangalal Kaidhu Sei, which was released in 2004. She is currently pursuing a degree in B.A. in psychology. She is the cousin of Bollywood actress Vidya Balan.

Vettai (Tamil: வேட்டை ; English: Hunt) is an upcoming Indian Tamil action film written and directed by N. Linguswamy,that stars Madhavan, Arya, Sameera Reddy and Amala Paul in the lead roles. The film revolves around two brothers settled in Thoothukudi, with the elder one working as a police officer. The film score is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, while cinematography is by Nirav Shah and editing handled by Anthony Gonsalves.

The film became announced shortly after the release of Lingusamy's Paiyaa, with Dhayanidhi Alagiri's Cloud Nine Movies agreeing to produce the film, following a successful collaboration during the director's previous film. During a lengthy pre-production phase, the film, however, underwent major changes in its main cast and Cloud Nine Movies stepped out of the project, with Linguswamy's own banner, Thirupathi Brothers, taking up the film. The shooting of the film, initially planned to begin by mid-2010, commenced in March 2011 eventually, and is set to release on 12 January, 2012.
